From a young age, I’ve always felt a deep connection with animals and dreamed of creating a small farm of my own. That dream came to life after I had my twins, when we started our homestead with a small flock of chickens and a sow. It didn't take long to realize I had a special knack for raising pigs, and alongside my children, I made it my mission to honor every part of the animals we raised.

In my quest to reduce waste and make the most of what we had, I taught myself the art of rendering lard and turning it into soap, the traditional way. What started as a way to be resourceful quickly blossomed into a passion for handcrafted, sustainable skincare. As I delved deeper into the craft, I began foraging for local ingredients, learning how to create natural salves, and experimenting with intricate soap recipes.

By the time I was pregnant with my third child, I had honed my skills in soapmaking and embraced the beautiful balance of science and creativity that the craft demands. I loved how soapmaking allowed me to combine artistry with practical, everyday products that nourish the body and soul.

Today, Raven & Star has grown into more than just soap. I still forage for many of my ingredients and now offer a range of handmade products, from beard balms and oils to lip balms, lotions, and more. Each item is made with care and intention, reflecting my passion for sustainability, artistry, and the importance of using natural, locally-sourced ingredients.
